Ukraine, already has first generation Scalp missiles, obsolete and lacking the ITAR-Free system, (a computer key under Pentagon control) which prohibits use outside Us agreement…. These missiles, far from being modernized, are barely fit for scrap.
For the moment, Biden’s supposed green light remains at the announcement stage. Germany, true to its cautious stance, has once again given a firm “Nein” to the idea of delivering its Taurus missiles. The British, for their part, wavered between a timid “maybe” and a vague “we’ll see”. This indecision leaves Kiev in a state of uncertainty.
This lack of determination could soon lead Zelinsky to make bolder demands. Why not, eventually, M51 nuclear missiles? A request which, if it seems absurd today, could well be put on the table by Volodymyr Zelensky in the weeks to come, with his usual dramatic insistence!
This conflict, which is devouring human lives by the thousands, seems to leave Europe unmoved. This indifference highlights a paradox: supporting Kiev without really getting involved, watching the tragedy unfold while remaining on the sidelines. Europe, while advocating solidarity, seems to have adopted a spectator’s stance in the face of a war that never ceases to exact an exorbitant human toll.
