The Greek once again lamented the XXL format of the Masters 1000.
Stefanos Tsisipas (12e world player, recent quarter-finalist at the Rolex Paris Masters, eliminated by Alexander Zverev, the future winner) who, in 2024, won the Monte-Carlo Masters 1000 has, once again, renewed his criticism of the ATP and the format of the Masters 1000 played over two weeks. On X, the Greek explained: “The two-week Masters 1000s have become a real chore. The quality has definitely dropped. Players don’t get the recovery or training time they need, with non-stop matches and no space for intense off-court work. It’s ironic that the ATP committed to this format without knowing whether it could really improve not only the schedule, but also the quality. Paris got it right, in one week. Exciting and easy to follow. That’s how it should be. If the aim was to lighten the calendar, extending all 1000s to two weeks is a step backwards. Sometimes it feels like they’re fixing what wasn’t broken.”
