Soccer world speaks out against higher taxes on sports betting operators

As the Senate begins its examination of the French health budget on Monday, Jean-François Vilotte, General Manager of the French Football Federation (FFF), points out the boost this measure would give to illegal sites.

Appointed General Manager of the French Football Federation in April 2023, Jean-François Vilotte is a man of few words. Today, he decided to speak out against a measure which, in his eyes, threatens French sport. An amendment to the Social Security Financing Bill (PLFSS) increasing the tax burden on sports betting operators. And soccer is obviously not the only sport affected by these new taxes. David Lappartient, President of Cnosf, the French National Olympic and Sports Committee, has sent a letter to Gil Avérous, Minister for Sportto denounce this situation on behalf of the entire sporting world.
