Jannik Sinner, who got off to a quiet start at the Masters, the last tournament of the year, with a victory over Alex De Minaur on Sunday, still tops the ATP rankings, updated on Monday, which see Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi, winner in Metz, jump from 124th to 78th place. Sinner has a lead of more than 3,000 points over Alexander Zverev, in a ranking that sees Taylor Fritz and Andrey Rublev each gain a place in the Top 10: the American takes fifth from Novak Djokovic, who slips back to sixth, and returns to the highest ranking of his career, while the Russian steals eighth from De Minaur.
Bonzi’s leap
Denmark’s Holger Rune dropped from 11th to 13th. But the most spectacular leap was Bonzi’s: the first title of his career at the ATP 250 tournament in Metz moved the Frenchman up 46 places! Canadian Denis Shapovalov, title-holder at the ATP 250 Belgrade tournament, moved up 22 places from 78th to 56th.
