The Serbian coach has been sacked by the Princely Club. He is paying for the Roca Team’s bumpy start to the season.
Sasa Obradovic pays the bill. Fifth in Betclic Elite and seventh in Euroleague, AS Monaco’s players are far from their usual standards. Injuries are one of the reasons for this bumpy start to the season. But this is clearly not enough justification for the club’s management: Sasa Obradovic was dismissed from his post on Monday. The defeat by Le Manson Sunday at Gaston-Médecin was one too many.
“Sasa Obradovic has brought rigor and worked tirelessly since the start of this human adventure in December 2020. (His) name is forever inscribed in the history of the Roca Team. The management and staff sincerely thank him for the work he has accomplished.“, we explain in a press release, adding that assistant Manuchar Markoishvili will take over as interim coach.
Two league titles and a Euroleague podium
Aged 55, the former Yugoslav international point guard officiated at the helm of AS Monaco in 2019-20 before taking over the reins of the Roca Team from 2021. Achievements? One thing is certain: ASM take on Asvel in the Euroleague in Monaco on Thursday. Pana, JL Bourg and Olympiakos to follow.
