Injured with the Portuguese national team, Joao Palhinha is expected to be out for several weeks and will miss Tuesday’s Champions League clash with PSG.
Injured to his right adductor muscle with Portugal, Joao Palhinha will be absent for the next few weeks with Bayern, explained the Munich club in a statement on Tuesday, and will miss the match against Paris SG in the Champions League in seven days’ time.
Called up with the Portuguese Seleçao to face Poland and Croatia in the Nations League, Joao Palhinha was injured in training and had to leave the squad before both matches for treatment in Munich. Medical examinations carried out in Bavaria revealed a muscle tear in the right adductor muscle. “The Bayern Munich midfielder will miss the next few weeks”.said the club, without giving any further details about the length of his unavailability. According to Sky Deutschland Nevertheless, Palhinha is not expected to play again in 2024.
Back in 2025?
Joao Palhinha arrived at Bayern in the summer and took advantage of Aleksandr Pavlovic’s fractured right clavicle in mid-October to join Joshua Kimmich in midfield.
Pavlovic partially resumed training with the Munich team on Monday, but after his operation Bayern were not expecting him to return before the end of 2024. Bayern coach Vincent Kompany has Leon Goretzka and Konrad Laimer in his ranks to form a defensive midfield duo with Kimmich.
After the international window, Bayern host Augsburg in the Bundesliga on Friday (8.30pm), before a sequence of three matches in seven days against Paris SG in the Champions League (Tuesday), in Dortmund against Borussia in the league (Saturday November 30) and against Leverkusen (Tuesday December 3) in the Cup Round of 16.
