LIVE – Marseille-Auxerre: OM already trailing at the Velodrome

Having won just one match at home this season, Marseille will be looking to build further confidence at the Velodrome this Friday evening against Auxerre (20:45).

What a performance from Auxerre! Another chance, another goal. From a ball picked up in midfield, AJA went on the counter-attack at full speed. Traorè was served up at full speed and finished perfectly with a low shot. The Vélodrome was stunned!

AUXERRE GOAL (42nd)

But it can’t be! OM are caught out again by a defensive lapse. Auxerre took advantage. Perrin was perfectly placed in space by Sinayoko, and his finish found its way past Rulli to double the lead.

OM turn the ball over (39th)

De Zerbi’s players are still intent on breaking down the Auxerre curtain. But with their low block, the Marseille players struggled to break AJA’s solidity. All in all, a sterile possession for OM.

Léon keeps pace with Maupay (36th)

Rowe provokes and enters the box, but his attempt is blocked. The ball remained alive in the area, allowing Maupay to come up and deflect the ball away, but Léon pounced to disgust the Marseille players.

Auxerre blocks (33rd)

Despite successive attempts by OM, AJ Auxerre held firm and stopped all attempts. The defense held firm and the score remained unchanged. OM struggled to find the necessary openings.

Although Marseille still had their foot on the ball, real chances were few and far between. The OM players are going to end up regretting that they are forcing the game without finding the breakthrough.

Jonathan Rowe’s cross was deflected by the Sinayoko striker. Rabiot was well clear. Marseille continued to push forward.

Les Phocéens regain the upper hand (18th)

Greenwood tried to find Brassier in the box who headed over. OM were clearly surprised but wanted to get their heads above water quickly.

The opening goal was clearly a surprise. The Phocéens seemed to have everything under control in the opening stages. It all came down to an individual error.

AUXERRE GOAL (10th)

What a mistake by the OM defence! Lilian Brassier failed to control the ball, allowing Auxerre to chase it down and set up Lassine Sinayoko for a free one-on-one. The AJA player beat Rulli well to take the lead.

Roberto De Zerbi’s players assert their dominance in this opening period and try to find the breakthrough.

Perrin collects a ball before moving up the pitch to try and throw Traorè on the opposite side, but he is thwarted.

Marseille tries (6th)

The Phocéens tried to dominate the match by going forward, as in the case of Balerdi’s long pass to Maupay, but to no avail.

A great Marseille move (4th)

Thrown in at the back of the defence by Rabiot, Lirola temporized and crossed to Luis Henrique but the attempt was deflected by Dane towards his goal… Léon was alert and pushed the ball away!

Rulli’s first save (2nd)

Gaetan Perrin came into the box on his right foot and tried a shot which was saved by the Marseille goalkeeper.
