Just four days after fired his finance minister and paved the way for early parliamentary elections, Olaf Scholz has already entered the election campaign, confident in his lucky star. On Sunday evening on the ARD public television channel, the chancellor heading a minority government immediately positioned himself as the putative candidate of the Social Democrats, in opposition to his main conservative opponent, Friedrich Merz.
