HEARING REPORT – On Tuesday November 19, the 48th day of the hearing, the court gave the main defendant in the Mazan rapes the opportunity to express himself one last time, before bringing the proceedings to a close.
Dominique Pelicot spoke for the last time on Tuesday, November 19. He began by addressing his children. “I thought they’d be devastated, but not to this extent.”he said, recalling that he hadn’t seen them for four years, when he was remanded in custody. “I have measured the devastation, and I bitterly regret it. But I want to stress that I never touched my children or my grandchildren.”he added. The main defendant then referred to what had been raised earlier in the day at the hearing: a lawyer had questioned Gisèle Pelicot’s lack of crying. “I hear that my wife doesn’t cry. I know her better than anyone here. When she lost her dad, she had the same face. She doesn’t express herself, she’s strong. That’s the way it is.”Dominique Pelicot told the audience.
