Brive releases Léo Carbonneau, who will join Racing 92

The promising 20-year-old scrum-half will leave the Corrèze at the end of the season.

CA Brive announced on Monday that they had reached an agreement (financial, amount not specified) to release Léo Carbonneau from his final year of contract. The promising scrum-half, son of 90s international Philippe Carbonneau, will join Racing 92 at the end of the season.

“The CAB, despite their desire to extend Léo’s stay in Corrèze until 2028, understood that their captain preferred to be released from his obligations at the end of 2025 in order to join the Île-de-France. After discussions between the various parties involved, a ‘win-win-win’ agreement has been reached”.said the Correze club’s press release. Before adding “deeply regret the departure of one of its young talents”.trained at Brive since 2013.

At just 20, Léo Carbonneau has been a regular for two seasons with Brive. He was also crowned world champion with the French U20 team in 2023 (and finalist in 2024). “The club knows it can count on Léo to contribute to CA Brive’s rise to the Top 14 and wishes him all the best for the rest of his career.”
