A few thousand Democratic supporters were back on campus Wednesday for the defeated candidate’s speech, calling on them to “not to give up”.

The evening before, shortly before one o’clock in the morning, thousands of Democratic students, activists and supporters had left the campus in a state of anxiety. A party official had just told them that the candidate would not speak until she had a clearer picture of the situation in all the swing states.
