It also calls for an internal audit of French animal slaughterhouses, in order to “take stock of slaughter conditions”. as well as publicizing the resulting inspection reports.

The Maurienne slaughterhouse is run by agricultural cooperatives, breeders and butchers in close proximity to the facility, and counts Lionel Rittaud, President of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes cattle trade association (Interbev), among its directors. When contacted by AFP, the establishment did not respond.
