The telephone meeting between the German leader and his Russian counterpart, initiated by the former and devoted to possible talks on ending the war in Ukrainelasted around sixty minutes, and a photo of the chancellor, accompanied by his diplomatic adviser and spokesman, was shared on X under the title: “I demanded an end to the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine and the withdrawal of Russian troops. Russia must show itself ready for negotiations with the aim of a just and lasting peace”.
