Visual artist, documentary filmmaker and director of hard-hitting political films, Steve McQueen isn’t the first name to come to mind for a war film. The Oscar-winning director of Shame, 12 Years A Slave , Small Axe surprises with Blitzportrays a little boy whose mother sends him to the countryside to escape the Nazi bombing of London. Unable to bear the separation, George keeps his chaperones company and wanders the ruined English capital in search of his family.
Before going online on Apple TV+ on November 22, Blitz will be shown in French cinemas under special visa this weekend, Saturday November 9 and 10 in selected cinemas*.
