The information, revealed by Sud Ouest, will do little to improve rugby’s already tarnished reputation in recent months. Two players from US Dax, which plays in Pro D2, behaved inappropriately last Saturday, the day after the USD’s victory over Nice.
Jope Naseara and Ratu Nacika, both of Fijian nationality, made the rounds of the town’s bars before, heavily intoxicated, they went on the rampage. Two separate investigations have been opened by the Dax public prosecutor. One for “violence committed under the influence of alcohol”. concerning a first player; the other for acts “sexual assaultconcerning the second player. The two players were questioned this morning at the Dax police station and taken into custody.
The Club reacted as soon as it received the information in order to help establish the truth as quickly as possible, in the interests of respect and support for the victims.

When contacted, Landes club president Benjamin Gufflet sent us the following statement. “US Dax Rugby Landes has been informed of criminal proceedings involving two of its players. The facts are still under investigation. However, the Club, which condemns all inappropriate behavior, reacted as soon as it received the information in order to help establish the truth as quickly as possible, out of respect for and in support of the victims. The Club has already initiated disciplinary proceedings, the outcome of which will depend in particular on the seriousness of the facts established and the ability of its employees to make amends.”
