Back then, Marine Le Pen loudly proclaims her support for the billionaire, whose anti-system, protectionist and anti-immigration rhetoric echoes her own. After successive victories for Brexit in the UK and the former real estate magnate in the US, the President of the Front National (now Rassemblement National) intends to ride this populist wave in the run-up to the 2017 presidential election. To the point of hoping to meet the new American president, whom she will wait for – in vain – in the lobby of Trump Tower in January, a few days before the septuagenarian’s inauguration.
