The people of the West Indies and the French overseas departments and territories in general are suffering enormously from the high cost of living (…) Why push down the Antilleans’ heads like this? Why take advantage of it? I don’t understand… It’s mind-boggling. Sometimes you wonder if you’re really French… It’s hard to ask yourself that question. We need a law to better understand and treat the lives of people in the French overseas departments and territories.”
