Airbus will provide the Canadian army with its first helicopters, with 19 light multi-purpose aircraft for pilot training, under the terms of a contract announced Monday by the European industrial giant. “Airbus Helicopters has signed a landmark contract with SkyAlyne, a joint venture between Canadian defense leaders CAE and KF Aerospace, to supply 19 Airbus H135 helicopters to the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF).”said the company in a press release.
The amount of the contract was not disclosed, “marks the first use of Airbus helicopters by the Canadian Army”.said Airbus. According to the Canadian government’s website, the current fleet of the country’s armed forces is mainly made up of helicopters of American origin (Bell, Sikorsky, Boeing…). “will be assembled and delivered from the Airbus Helicopters industrial site located in Fort Erie, Ontario.”said the manufacturer, and “deliveries are scheduled to begin in the first half of 2026”..
