George Ilenikhena, an 18-year-old Franco-Nigerian forward for AS Monaco, was attacked by four armed men as he left a party in Essonne.

AS Monaco striker George Ilenikhena was the victim of a mugging in Corbeil-Essonnes on Saturday night, reveals the newspaper Le Parisien . The 18-year-old footballer had just left a birthday party and was at the wheel of his car with a friend on board, when four hooded men appeared.
Some were “equipped with handguns according to the victims’ accounts”. Under pressure from the robbers, Ilenikhena gave them “her pair of luxury shoes, her iPhone and the keys to her Volkswagen Golf”.. But the individuals, trying to leave with the car, had an accident. They hastily abandoned the vehicle on the spot.

No injury for Ilenikhena
Ilenikhena, who was not injured, filed a complaint the day after the attack. Born in Lagos, Nigeria, the footballer arrived in France at the age of 3 and grew up in the Hauts-de-Seine suburb of Paris. Monaco spent almost 19 million euros this summer to buy him from Belgian club Royal Antwerp. The centre-forward has made 14 appearances this season, including 5 starts and two goals.
