Thanks to their 37-7 win over Soyaux-Angoulême on Friday evening, Grenoble have taken top spot in the French championship.
Grenoble moved to the top of the Pro D2 rugby league table with a 37-7 win over Soyaux-Angoulême on Friday, while former leaders Provence-Rugby lost heavily at Biarritz (25-0).
With 36 points, Grenoblois are one point ahead of Montauban, who won without a bonus point on Thursday in Agen (25-18), and three ahead of Brive, who won in Nice (26-16). Defeated again at Valence-Romans (18-16), Oyonnax find themselves in a dangerous 14th position and plunging into crisis.
Provence-Rugby find themselves relegated to 6th place with 31 points after their fourth defeat of the season. The final match of the day will pit the two Landes clubs of Dax and Mont-de-Marsan against each other this Saturday (4.30pm). The match will be held at Bayonne’s Jean-Dauger stadium.
