If confirmed by the Senate, Todd Blanche, Emil Bove and John Sauer will be promoted to number two, three and four in the Department of Justice, the powerful federal judiciary that oversees prosecutors across the country.
To assist the controversial Matt Gaetzappointed Attorney General, the 45th and soon to be 47th President of the United States Donald Trump appointed three of his lawyers to defend him in his criminal cases. Matt Gaetz, former Florida elected official, is a loyal Trumpist who is unlikely to win Senate confirmation because, among other things, he is suspected of having relations with an underage girl and nearly two years ago fomented the overthrow of the House Republican majority leader. The president-elect has also promoted three of his personal lawyers – Todd Blanche, Emil Bove and John Sauer – to number two, three and four in the Department of Justice, the powerful federal judiciary that oversees prosecutors across the country.
Todd Blanche and Emil Bove are known for defending Donald Trump in the criminal trial over concealed payments to a former porn actress, Stormy Daniels, which resulted in her historic conviction on May 30 by local justice in New York State. Never before seen for an American ex-president. Todd Blanche, who is also advising him on two other federal cases, was appointed Deputy Attorney General on Thursday. His colleague Emil Bove, who had also represented the Republican billionaire in New York, and in federal instructions, should be number 3 in the protocol order. Above all, he will be acting number 2, while Todd Blanche goes before the Senate.
“Eradicate corruption and crime”
Finally, John Sauer, who successfully argued for presidential immunity before the Supreme Court, inherits the 4th most important position at Justice. As Solicitor General, he is expected to represent the U.S. executive before the nine justices who make up the high court.
All three men are seasoned and well-connected jurists. Todd Blanche is a graduate of Brooklyn Law School in New York, while Emil Bove is a graduate of Georgetown University in Washington. John Sauer is a graduate of the prestigious Harvard Law School, and also studied at Britain’s famous Oxford University. They have also served as judges and federal prosecutors, notably Todd Blanche and Emil Bove at the powerful Manhattan Federal Prosecutor’s Office in New York. John Sauer served as Solicitor General of Missouri.
Todd Blanche “will be a central leader of the Department of Justice to fix a justice system that has been broken for too long.”according to Donald Trump, while Emil Bove will, according to the next president of“eradicate corruption and crime”..
Two cases in the balance
In Stormy Daniels trialthe criminal sentencing of Donald Trump, 78 years old – possibly prison – is constantly postponed: from July to September, and now to November 26. Based on the Supreme Court ruling on presidential immunityhis lawyers are contesting the legality of his conviction in New York, and are calling for “the final dismissal of the case”.because of his re-election on November 5. Under enormous pressure, New York judge Juan Merchan is due to rule on the motion on November 19, and then decide whether a sentence should actually be handed down on the 26th.
Todd Blanche and Emil Bove are also representing their prestigious client in two federal cases being heard by a special prosecutor, Jack Smith. Donald Trump is being prosecuted in Washington for his alleged attempts to overturn the outcome of the 2020 presidential election, and in Florida for leaving the White House with classified documents. But both cases are stalled, and Attorney General Smith is expected to dismiss them, as the Justice Department cannot prosecute a sitting president.
Donald Trump “wants to instrumentalize Justice to seek revenge” of his Democratic opponents, by making the Ministry “its own law firm (with) his personal lawyers” thundered Democratic Senator Dick Durbin, who chairs the Judiciary Committee of the upper house of Congress until January.
