A number of France’s players gave their impressions of the 0-0 draw with Israel at the Stade de France on Thursday.
Jules Koundé (Les Bleus defender, after 0-0 draw with Israel ) : “You feel frustration, anger. A bit of everything. We didn’t have a good game at all. We had chances, but we didn’t do everything we needed to do. I don’t know if we can be happy about qualifying after the game we played. That’s the only positive thing about tonight. We’ll have to do a lot better if we want to win in Italy, a team with a lot more quality than our opponents tonight. We’ll have to be more aggressive, more intense and finish well.” (on TF1)
Randal Kolo Muani (Les Bleus striker) : “It was a very complicated game, and we weren’t able to capitalize on our chances. We could have done better, but we’re going to focus on the positive, the qualification and this little point (…) We said things to each other at half-time, we tried to be 100%, but despite that we weren’t able to score. We’re not going to dwell on that, we’re going to pick ourselves up because we’ve got a game coming up very quickly (Sunday in Italy, editor’s note). (Little playing time at club level) It’s different playing and training… I played 90 minutes. I gave it my all. I was tired at the end. Is it a question of skill or desire for Les Bleus? It’s not a question of desire. You have to apply yourself to the last move, and the keeper did the job too. We could have done better.

It’s a bit heartbreaking to see the stadium like this.
Randal Kolo Muani
The coach’s words? That we could do better. We have to show it on Sunday. Were you unpleasantly surprised by the performance? No, the team wanted to do better, to show more. We’re a little disappointed, but we’ve got to pick ourselves up quickly. How successful have you been lately in blue? Nothing’s changed. I lacked the final touch too. I had chances. I could have put them in the back of the net. You can’t score and win every time… (…) It’s a bit heartbreaking to see the stadium like that, but the fans were there, they pushed to the end and that’s a pleasure.” (in the mixed zone)
Ibrahima Konaté (Les Bleus defender) : “It’s a huge disappointment. We dominated, we had a lot of chances to wrap up the match, but we wasted time, especially in the first half, being a bit sloppy. We didn’t lose, we qualified, but we can’t be proud. We lacked efficiency, and we’re going to have to do better in our next few matches. We should be happy to have qualified, but we have to learn from our mistakes to be better.” (on TF1)
