DECRYPTAGE – France Inter consolidates its leadership and Europe 1 gets the season off to a flying start.

If RTL had its crown as France’s leading radio station snatched from it by France Inter already in 2019, it probably wasn’t ready to see itself relegated to third place in the rankings. According to the latest results of Médiamétrie’s EAR study, the M6 group’s station was overtaken at the start of the new season by a narrow margin by its rival Franceinfo. Never before seen.
RTL attracted 4.9 million listeners in September and October, while Radio France’s all-info station had 4.97 million. The worst thing about this victory is that Franceinfo ultimately triumphed without glory. It beat RTL, but lost 18,000 listeners over the year… Franceinfo’s return to second place on the podium is essentially due to its rival’s sharp decline.
