The historic coach of the San Antonio Spurs has missed his team’s last six games due to health concerns.
The legendary coach of the San Antonio Spurs Gregg Popovich was the victim of a “mild stroke” in early November, but is expected to make a speedy recovery, the NBA franchise announced on Wednesday.
Age 75, Popovich had missed the last six games of his team, but no information had been released on his state of health.
On Wednesday, San Antonio announced that he had suffered a stroke on November 2 in San Antonio Hall, prior to a home win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. His assistant Mitch Johnson took charge of the team during his absence.
The franchise says no date has been set for the return to the bench of the legendary coach, who led the Spurs to five NBA titles in 29 seasons. He holds the all-time record for NBA victories with 1,390 regular-season wins and 170 play-off wins.
