Bridget Jones, 52 and a widow: discover the trailer for the 4th and final instalment, Bridget Jones: Mad about him

Renée Zellweger takes on the role of Bridget Jones for the fourth time, as she once again embarks on a quest to find the perfect man.

Nine years on Bridget Jones Baby (2016), Bridget Jones returns to the silver screen in 2025. Renée Zellweger reprises her iconic role, and in nine years, many events have marked the life of the cult heroine imagined by Helen Fielding. This new opus, Bridget Jones: Mad About Himdirected by Michael Morris, will be released in France on February 12, just in time for Valentine’s Day.

A stunning comeback

In this fourth installment, adapted from the third volume, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, published in 2013 by Helen Fielding, we meet Bridget Jones again in what could well be the latest chapter in her eventful life. Now 52, she’s the mother of two children… and a widow for four years, following the death of Mark Darcy (played by Colin Firth), which can be seen in the form of a “ghost in the trailer. After a long period of mourning, Bridget once again embarks on the quest for the perfect man, but she soon discovers that returning to the world of bachelorhood is no picnic.

True to form, Bridget continues to play out a series of outrageous situations, in keeping with the last three films. From her experiments on Tinder to the mysterious “magic tree to men”and even the return of Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant), who was absent from the last film, so life won’t get any easier for the British heroine. The cast also includes Chiwetel Ejioforwho will play Bridget’s children’s teacher, and Leo Woodall, who could well play a lover potentially too young for our heroine…

The last dance for Bridget Jones?

Released in 2001, Bridget Jones’s Diary has left its mark on many generations, and this fourth installment seems to be the final chapter in the British saga. The trailer sets the tone: with the shadow of Mark Darcy hanging over the story, we hear “It’s time to go” while the words “For a final chapter” appear on screen. Rated one of the best British romantic comedies by Vanity Fair the saga leaves unforgettable memories, such as Bridget running after Mark Darcy in a snowy London street, wearing sneakers, a vest and zebra panties. This final chapter promises to be as funny as it is epic, for a memorable conclusion.
