Rier, the Tyrolean wardrobe that fascinates fashion

Handcrafted loden, Viennese boots, embroidery from the Dolomites… Authentic, both raw and refined, the brand founded by Andreas Steiner in 2019 goes off the beaten track.

I’m bringing a mountain feature to town asks Andreas Steiner. With the 39-year-old Italian designer, languages sometimes intermingle (he speaks fluent German, Italian, English and French), but every idea is woven with precision, every word weighed. Unravelling his career and discussing his vision of fashion invites us to go back and forth with his collection, hanging that day a few meters away in the main room of his office in the Marais district of Paris. A baggy parka, Mao collar jackets, generous pants, knits…At Rier, shades are natural, gray, brown, beige, but punctuated with touches of color: chick yellow, cherry red, tobacco brown, jet black beaded with tiny folk embroideries. The materials are all natural, too: linen, leather, cotton and wool in all its forms (felted, brushed, etc.). Nothing is superfluous or gratuitous in this intriguing yet seductive wardrobe.
