Barcola imperious, Angevine defence in disarray… Tops and flops

Bradley Barcola had an excellent game on his flank against Angers on Saturday. The SCO defense, on the other hand, collapsed under the onslaught of the Parisians in the first half (2-4).

Tops

Barcola in top form

Probably the man of the match. Placed on his usual left flank, Bradley Barcola was particularly in evidence this evening. Scoring twice in the 31st and 45+2nd minutes for the first time since the match against Rennes on September 27, the 22-year-old made way for Désiré Doué at half-time. He already has 10 Ligue 1 goals to his name, consolidating his lead over his nearest rivals in the scoring charts, namely Greenwood, who has 8, and David, who has 7. A welcome reassurance ahead of the start of Les Bleus’ training camp on Monday.

Kang-In Lee above the rest

Like his French team-mate, Kang-In Lee put in an excellent performance. Placed on the right flank of the Parisian attack, the Korean scored twice (17th, 20th) to give his team an early two-goal lead. More discreet in the second half, the winger gave way to Neves in the 91st minute in a match that ended without much at stake.

Flops

Angevine’s defense in shambles

They’ll be doing everything in their power to put this evening behind them. Angevine’s Arcus-Biumla-Lefort-Hanin defensive quartet suffered greatly on Saturday evening, particularly in the first half. Completely sluggish and outclassed by the Parisians, who didn’t seem to be trying too hard, the Angevine defense did improve in the second half, with Biumla even scoring late on. Under threat from Saint-Étienne, the Angevins will have to come back with better intentions after the break if they want to stay in Ligue 1.

Fofana in trouble

Like his defence, Angers’ SCO goalkeeper Yahia Fofana suffered on Saturday evening. Faulty on one of the four Parisian goals, the Ivorian keeper conceded four goals for the second time this season, two months after the defeat by Nice (1-4). Despite a good second half, the 24-year-old will have to come back with better intentions after the international break.
