Shapovalov wins his first title since 2019

Five years after his last title, Denis Shapovalov won his second career title this Saturday in Belgrade. The Canadian is now one step closer to the Top 50.

Perhaps the beginning of a revival. Denis Shapovalov won the second title of his career this Saturday in Belgrade. The Canadian defeated tournament guest Hamad Medjedovic 6-4 6-4. The former world No. 10 had no difficulty in overpowering the 21-year-old in a one-sided final.

This is Denis Shapovalov’s second title, following the one he won in Stockholm in 2019. He had lost five finals since then, including the one in Bercy that same year. From 78th in the world, this title will enable him to climb back up to 56th.
